LUXIE PHILOSOPHY
Luxie Beauty was founded on the core value of driving high-quality and conscientious beauty products to socially conscious consumers without inflicting pain or suffering towards animals. None of the products we make are tested on animals (and there's no way we will in a million years). The Luxie signature is simple: we handcraft our aesthetic ideas to life using the safest and 100% recyclable materials. This is when our cruelty-free and vegan beauty journey becomes unified with our mission to lead a healthy and wholesome lifestyle. Headquartered in San Jose, California, we are extremely passionate about combining quality, character and conscience in our products designed to empower both your inner and outer beauty.
Step 1: Pour 1 teaspoon of olive oil into a soft paper towel. Step 2: Get a dirty makeup brush and gently wipe its brush head against the tissue paper in a back and forth motion. The olive oil will significantly break down all the nasties from your makeup brush.
Step 3: Then, wet your makeup brush under running water past the ferrule - you don’t want this part to get wet for it can lead the glue to loosen and the bristles might fall apart or shed. Step 4: Squirt some gentle facial wash or baby shampoo on the palm of your hands and swirl it in a circular motion. This will eliminate all the remaining impurities and trapped debris.
Step 5: Rinse the brush with running water until it runs clear. Step 6: Finally, give your makeup brush a tender squeeze to remove excess water. Lay flat to dry. Top Tip: You can also use commercial makeup brush cleansers like the Laura Mercier brush cleanser, to “spot clean” your brushes in between deep cleaning them. We love using the Laura Mercier brush cleanser because it thoroughly cleanses our Luxie makeup brushes without drying or damaging their synthetic bristles.
Synthetic makeup brushes for a "kinder" makeup bag…
Natural makeup brushes are made from animal hair or fur. If you're wondering what kind of animal hair goes into these brushes, the answer (most often than not) is goats, squirrels or horses. Can you imagine these animals volunteering themselves to give away their fur? We didn't think so. Truth be told, natural makeup brushes are extremely durable and will therefore last you ages. Animal hair has unique surface texture called the "cuticle" allowing powders and creams to grab and adhere to it which provide remarkable results. Our founder's (Tammy Huynh) desire to go completely cruelty-free while improving the way women apply their makeup gave birth to Luxie Beauty in 2014. They created a revolutionary line of synthetic makeup brushes that replicate or mimic the look, feel, and most importantly, the performance of natural hair bristles. Try to compare our synthetic makeup brushes to animal bristles with your eyes closed and we bet you won't be able to tell them apart! The biggest advantage of Luxie Beauty makeup brushes is that they are made from nylon or polyester filaments which doesn't have surface irregularities making them easier to clean. Natural makeup brushes have microscopic ridges on them that inevitably trap makeup residues, dead cells, skin oils and sweat in every bristle inviting bacterial growth. It’s also important to note that our synthetic makeup brushes also feature a revolutionary antibacterial coating to repel bacteria.Cleaning makeup brushes…
Generally speaking, it is recommended that you clean or wash your makeup brushes once a week or even more. Keeping your makeup brushes clean will ensure that you get the truest color payoff of your makeup on the skin. It will condition their bristles allowing smooth makeup application, every time. Dirty makeup brushes can pose serious threats to the skin and cleaning them will diminish the chances of acquiring blemishes and breakouts in the long run. What’s the best way to clean your makeup brushes? News flash: using soap and water is not enough. Luxie recommends the following steps to ensure that you get the most out of your beauty investment:
